“Baskog”  is a digital illustration titled on miscommunication. The title isn’t spelled right, I am not literate in ilonggo. I cannot understand 100% what is said. When I ate a lot I would hear that word from my dad. I thought he was making a comment on my appearance, and I would have a negative feeling about eating. I found out later that it sorta translates to “healthy.” 

Growing up I didn’t eat a lot, I would pack a PB&J sandwich for potluck because I knew it was something I would eat. That, or I would run to the table full of desserts.  “Baskog” means healthy. Looking back, being able to choose what I ate was a healthy dynamic. This drawing is about the healthy relationship with food and family.
